Emerson College - Boston, MA
In 1880, the Boston Conservatory of Elocution, Oratory, and Dramatic Art was founded after nearby Boston University closed its School of Oratory. One of BU’s former graduates, an orator by the name of Charles Wesley Emerson, started the small school. Over the years, it grew into a top-rated college – Emerson College.
Emerson was New England’s first college with an educational FM radio station, which has been rated the number one student-run college radio station in the US by the Princeton Review. It was also one of the first colleges to offer a children’s theater in 1919, and one of the first colleges with undergraduate programs in broadcasting in 1937. Today, the college’s curriculum has evolved to include other fields of communication and the arts. It offers a Master of Fine Arts in Media Art, a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Communication, a Master of Arts in Health Communication, and a Business and Entrepreneurial Studies undergraduate program.
Emerson College is located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts on the edge of the Boston Common. This popular, pedestrian-friendly area has several bus and train stations for easy commutes in the city and beyond. To find an apartment in the Emerson College area, look in Chinatown, Bay Village, and Downtown Boston.
