Monterey Neighborhood

The scenic neighborhood of Monterey is east of the city of Jacksonville, just across the Saint John River located in Duval County, Florida in zip code 32211. This culturally diverse community has a median resident age of 32.94 years and consists of single-family homes, condominiums, townhouses and apartments.

Monterey is bordered by the Saint John River to the west, Jacksonville University to the north, University Boulevard to the east and Arlington Expressway to the south. Public schools in the area include Arlington Heights Elementary, Arlington Middle School and Terry Parker Senior High School. Jacksonville University is adjacent to the Monterey community, and Florida Technical College is less than 10 minutes away.

Metropolitan Park is a short drive and offers bicycle paths and hiking trails. Children will enjoy playing at Arlington Playground and Kona Skate Park, or swimming in Terry Parker Pool, open to the public and 1.8 miles from the neighborhood of Monterey. Located eight minutes away, baseball fans will enjoy the Baseball Grounds-Jacksonville ballpark, home to the Jacksonville Suns. EverBank Field, home to the Jacksonville Jaguars, is located just six minutes from Monterey.

Dog Wood Park, catering to canine friends, has fully fenced dog play areas, fields and swimming areas. This park was featured as one of the nation’s best dog parks in the 2009 Dog Fancy magazine’s “Best Dog Parks in America” issue. Poochies Swim and Play Park is a 40 minute drive and features an off leash park, day camp, swim pond, digging mountain and a special fenced section for small canines.

Blue Cypress Golf Club, Mill Cove Golf Club, Hidden Hills Country Club and San Jose Country Club are a sampling of several outstanding golfing facilities in the area. Just four miles from Jacksonville International airport, the community of Monterey is close to many attractions and amenities.
