North Issaquah is the area of Issaquah, Washington, located north and west of Interstate 90 and S.E Issaquah Fall City Road. The area of King County lies to the east of Sammamish Parkway S.E. and is parallel to Lake Sammamish State Park. Issaquah is a city in the valley just before the Snoqualmie Pass over the Cascade Mountains. Many travelers stop here for the retail shops and restaurants, before traveling to Eastern Washington on Interstate 90.
Issaquah was first settled as a logging and mining town. When the I-90 Floating Bridge was completed in 1940, traffic to the area increased, because of the ease it lent to accessing the city center in Seattle. North Issaquah became a residential neighborhood serving the metro area. Issaquah is now home to major corporate headquarters of companies like Darigold and Siemen’s Medical Solutions. Gilman Village Shopping area attracts shoppers to the 40 shops that occupy a collection of historic buildings.
Lake Sammamish Park is in the south end of Lake Sammamish. Park of the Washington State Parks System, Lake Sammamish Park covers 512 acres along 6,858 feet of Lake Sammamish waterfront. Easily accessed from I 90, visitors to the park enjoy swimming and boating and waterskiing. Bus riders can travel to the park on Metro Transit buses and drivers can use the 250 parking spaces that also allow trailer parking. Picnic areas, softball fields, soccer fields fill out the recreational activities in the park. In the summer, Jensen Youth Camp takes place in the park, which offers two public beaches, Tibbetts Beach and Sunset Beach.
