Holly Park Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Holly Park neighborhood in south Seattle is more commonly known by the newer name, NewHolly. It was originally constructed by the Seattle Housing Authority as inexpensive public housing, but has been rebuilt since the rise in housing prices in the Seattle area. In transition since 1995, with funding from the U. S Department of Housing and Urban Development, the area is officially called NewHolly by the SHA. The area has received numerous awards because of its successful redevelopment. The NewHolly neighborhood is primarily a single-family neighborhood. The area is located east of Interstate 5 and South Myrtle Street.
Students attend Atlantic Street Center, which provides after-school learning, parent education and mental health counseling. South Seattle Community College is located nearby and the college’s NewHolly learning center is located on Beacon Hill. Classes in ESL are given at this location as well as GED preparation and a worker-retraining program.
The Apartments in an Elder Village were a partnership with Retirement Housing Foundation and Providence Hospital. A public library is located in NewHolly as well. The library provides story hours and access to an ancestry library, along with loaning books. The NewHolly Neighborhood Campus houses a learning center; the library; the Community College; along with a Head Start and child care center; the Vietnamese Friendship Association; youth and teen programs; and other programs established to help residents increase income. A gathering hall at the site is available for rentals. Many buses travel through this area and the Light Rail System also passes by and travels all the way to SeaTac airport.
