Fairmount Park is a small scenic neighborhood in Seattle. The neighborhood is situated along California Avenue to the west, Raymond Street to the south, 35th Avenue to the east, and along Fountleroy Way to the north.
In the middle of the neighborhood is a small park that shares the name of the neighborhood, Fairmount Park. The park has a small field that is setup for both baseball and soccer; however, it is also used by many area youth for football, kite flying, frisbees, and much more. Also in the park is a playground that is popular with younger children.
Bordering the park to the south is Fairmount Elementary School. The school is attended by many younger children in the area, and the connected Fairmount Park is a popular location for physical activity for school children.
A little over a mile away from Fairmount Park off of 35th Avenue is the West Seattle Recreation Center. The center is host to West Seattle Stadium, which is used for area football games and track meets. The stadium has a regulation-sized track and a variety of other features that make track and field sports possible. Also part of the park is the West Seattle Golf Course. This popular golf course is used by area residents of different skill levels. The course is also the largest in the area.
To the east of the West Seattle Golf Course off of 26th Avenue is the Delridge Community Center. The community center offers tennis courts, a large multiple purpose field, and a playground. It also offers a technology center that is used by many area youth for doing research and working on school projects. A fully trained staff even assists those who lack computer knowledge. The community center also offers a wide variety of computer classes, as well as life skills classes.
