The neighborhood of Silver Lake is bordered by Interstate 5, making access to the community simple. The zip code here is 98208. The neighborhood gets its name from a lake of the same name, located close to the Interstate.

The lake is a great place for people to go for recreation and relaxation. There are many trees, hiking trails, picnic and barbecue areas, a playground, and even showers here. It’s known for great fishing. Swimming and boating are other recreational activities that are available. In addition, there are opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. The trees and animals extend throughout the neighborhood, and many homes have garden plots and flower beds.

Less than a half mile from Silver Lake is Ruggs Lake. This shallow lake is popular among those who like fishing for bullhead catfish. Bass, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout are also commonly caught. Ducks and geese are seasonally common at Ruggs Lake, which is fed by Silver Lake.

McCollum Pioneer Park is roughly a mile from the neighborhood. This park, covering just under 80 acres, has a heated pool, nature trails, a baseball field, jogging trails, picnic tables, a playground, a BMX track, and covered picnic tables.

James Monroe Elementary School is located within this community. It is well-maintained, and many members of the teaching staff live in the neighborhood. Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School, also nearby, is known as a very safe school.
