The Cornerstone community is a pedestrian friendly neighborhood development located on Greenview Drive in Lynchburg, with easy access to Timberlake Road and Route 460, as well as Wards Road and Enterprise Drive. The homes are a mix of single family houses, townhome villas, and condominiums. This is also the first completely fiber optic community in Lynchburg.
Residents in search of a family friendly outing need only travel 18 miles away to Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Located along the second largest lake in Virginia, the 1500 acre park offers visitors a peaceful place to swim and boat, or just relax along the sandy man-made beach. Those who enjoy fishing will appreciate the abundance of fish in the lake, which is kept stocked by releasing the winners of the various local fishing tournaments. The lake also has a number of basic campsite locations available which come with in ground grills and a non-flushable toilet that functions by use of flowing water. Shower facilities are limited, as is hot water. For more amenities, cabin rentals are also available.
If getting the kids active early on is a priority, a class at Romp and Roll should get them up and moving, and learning while they do it. Classes range from Silly Science, where youngsters make cream become ice cream by freezing it, to Construction, to Superheroes and Princesses. There are also cooking, music, gym, art, and even fashion classes! All classes include some form of hands-on artwork or performance by the children, and include a take-home certificate of completion. What makes these classes unique is that they are specifically geared towards the very young, with enrollment in most of them beginning around age 2, and ending at 5 or 6 years old.
