Valley High North Apartments for Rent

Valley High North is east of Lackland Air Force Base in southwestern San Antonio. Bordered by Interstate 410 on the west and Ray Ellison Road, named after a local real estate legend, on the east, this fairly dense residential area is also home to Air Force Village 1, a retirement community for military officers and their families. The southern third of the community is taken up by apartment complexes, cottages, and expansive grounds of this exclusive gated community.

The rest of the community comprises single-family homes and apartments, most of which went up between 1940 and 1969. Homes in the northern part are newer, some built as recently as the early 2000s. These homes, on streets like Bridle Ridge and Rustic Stable, are larger and more color-coordinated, and create the look of a more modern suburban development. South of Threadneedle Drive, the homes become more eclectic and uniquely designed, and the streets are lined with mature trees. West of Valley High North are undeveloped woodlands.

The closest churches are along the access road next to Interstate 410. They include Chapel Hills United Methodist and Church of Christ Valley Hi. Walgreens and H-E-B Markets are also along this roadway. Schools in the area include Valley Hi Elementary, Rayburn Middle School, and Neil Armstrong Elementary. South San Antonio High is about two miles to the south. Across from the high school is Pearsall Park and its 91 acres of open space that is mostly one big dog park. It also has a one-half-mile jogging trail and a playground. The 42-acre Millers Pond Park, also to the south, offers a stocked pond for fishing, picnic tables, a hiking trail, and softball fields.
