Thelka is a rather large neighborhood on the south side of San Antonio, Texas. It is convenient to Interstates 10, 35, and 37, as well as many major highways. The downtown area is less than a 10-minute drive to the north. This community extends to I-10 on the north, East Sayers Avenue on the south, and Mission Road on the east. Its western boundary is less conspicuous, roughly defined by a local waterway, Probandt Street, and South Flores Street. Much of this community is residential, consisting of many hundred well-kept, single-family homes and some multi-family residences. Quite a few commercial offerings can also be found within neighborhood boundaries, especially along the Interstate. Burbank High School is within walking distance to the west.

Conception Park is a large park that takes up a good portion of central Thelka. Much of this park is undeveloped natural land, traversed by trails for hiking, biking, and nature viewing. However, the north side of the park also offers several playing fields, playground equipment, a walking path, and basketball court. Morrill Park, a small neighborhood park, is also situated within community bounds.

The Riverside Golf Course is another outdoor recreation option near Thelka, located just outside of this community on the east. This popular public 18-hole course dates back to 1968 and offers a par of 72.

For more shopping, dining, entertainment, and recreation options, Thelka residents are just short drive from downtown San Antonio and the famous river walk area. Sports fans and music lovers may come to the downtown area to visit the Alamodome, a popular event venue and sports complex. Additional attractions in downtown San Antonio include several major medical centers and the University of Texas at San Antonio campus.
