The largest park in the area is McAllister Park. This 986-acre park, opened in 1968, offers five miles of paved walking/jogging trails and a covered picnic pavilion complete with BBQ pits. Bikers, as well as runners that prefer a more natural terrain, take advantage of the park’s 10 miles of unpaved trails. There are also baseball and soccer fields at McAllister. Although not affiliated with the park, the Gunn Sports Park and Texas Transportation Museum are accessible from here as well. If you prefer to avoid the crowds, a handful of smaller parks can also be found in the surrounding area.
Another prominent feature of the Santa Fe Trails neighborhood is its close proximity to the San Antonio International Airport, situated less than two miles to the south, conveniently accessible via nearby Highway 281.

This indoor mall features more than 200 specialty stores and several restaurants. Among these are The Apple Store, Saks Fifth Avenue, Guess, Sephora, The Cheesecake Factory, Steve Madden, Macy’s, and Armani Exchange. Interestingly, the mall also hosts the world’s largest pair of cowboy boots. At 20 feet long and 40 feet high, you’ll never know what its like to walk a mile in these shoes!
