Oak Creek is a neighborhood on the west side of San Antonio, roughly 20 minutes directly west of the downtown area. This community is situated immediately east of State Highway 1604 and the Charles W. Anderson Loop. It extends roughly to Wiseman Boulevard on the north and Potranco Road on the south, and Military Drive West traverses the middle of the neighborhood from west to east. This community is in the 78251 zip code within Bexar County.
Oak Creek is mostly a residential neighborhood, although several commercial offerings are situated within neighborhood bounds, primarily along the highway. Most of the residences here are mid-sized, single-family homes, but a quaint mobile home park is also located on the community’s west side. Nearby communities include Spring Vistas – Sierra Springs, Villages of Westcreek, and Sierra Springs.
One of the most significant attractions near Oak Creek is Sea World San Antonio, located just outside the neighborhood boundaries on the east. Visitors come from around the state and even around the country to visit this popular theme park. Neighborhood residents may have season passes so they can visit this fun park anytime they would like.
Proximity to the theme park means that traffic may be heavy near Oak Creek, but this tourist attraction has also brought a number of commercial offerings to the area, including many popular restaurants. For major shopping trips, there are two large retail centers within a few miles east of this community, along I-410.
For more to see and do, residents of Oak Creek may travel into downtown San Antonio, which hosts plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities, including the popular river walk area. Additional attractions and amenities in the downtown area include the Alamodome, Hemisfair Park, University of Texas at San Antonio, and several major medical centers.
