Memorial Heights is located between the 410 (Charles W. Anderson) Loop and Culebra Road, which is also the neighborhood’s northern boundary. The neighborhood lies just south of St. Mary’s University, and just a short distance from San Antonio College.
The Holy Cross of San Antonio School’s baseball field sits just beyond the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Memorial Heights itself is located directly west of downtown San Antonio area, the Riverwalk, and the Tower of the Americas.
Homes in the community are a mixture of styles and sizes, but most all are single story residences. Home sizes vary from less than 850 square feet to over 2600 square feet. Some homes were built as far back as 1948, while others are brand new.
Monterrey Park lies just outside of the community. This 51 acre park has a playscape, athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a .4 mile walking trail.
The Riverwalk is San Antonio’s most popular tourist attraction, and is a great place for residents to enjoy the best that San Antonio has to offer. Cruises provide a 35 minute narrated history of the Riverwalk, and local boats offer lunch and dinner cruises along the river.
San Antonio has a wealth of Ripley’s attractions across from the Alamo. For brave people who love Halloween and horror stories, a multi-million dollar haunted house features all sorts of special effects and live actors.
The Tower of The Americas is another great attraction. The Chart House restaurant at the top of the tower sits on a platform that rotates around a full 360 degree circle, allowing diners to see the entire city from 750 feet in the air.
