The small community of Eckhert Crossing is located in northwest San Antonio. The community is bounded on the north by Eckhert Road, on the west by Farm to Market Road 1517, and on the east by Huebner Road. The boundary line to the south lies just north of Lobo Lane and Deer Lane.

This community offers residents various housing options. Single-family homes are primarily two-story brick residences built in the 1990s. They sell in the $100K range. There are also many apartment communities from which to choose, with amenities ranging from standard to luxurious. Two such communities are the Arboretum Apartments, located in the southeastern portion of Eckhert Crossing just off Huebner Road, and Abbey at Grand Oaks, a luxury community to the north, off Eckhert Road. Eckhert Crossing also offers an excellent senior living community, Waterford On Huebner.

Students in the area attend excellent schools. Rhodes Elementary School and Marshall High School are very convenient to the Eckhert Crossing neighborhood. There are a slew of hospitals just to the east of the community, the largest of which is Southwest Texas Medical Center. There are also rehabilitation, surgical, and transplant hospitals located nearby. Any type of medical care a person might need is convenient to the neighborhood.

Leon Creek Greenway Park has fishing on French Creek, hiking and cycling trails, and bird and nature watching. Last but definitely not least, is Nani Falcone Park. This is a nice, newly built park that features a nine-hole disc golf course, as well as brand new playgrounds and pavilions.
