Alamo Heights Neighborhood in San Antonio, TX

Uptown Broadway Neighborhood

Broadway spans nearly the entire length of San Antonio. Uptown Broadway, however, is found directly in the heart of the city. The 78215 zip code is where all the major interstates collide and merge and is just moments away from downtown and a host of shopping, entertainment, and restaurants.

The Uptown Broadway area is small, spanning only about 3 miles in radius, but borders several popular residential areas such as Olmos Park, Terrell Hills, and Alamo Heights. Just outside of the historic King Willliams District, Uptown Broadway is considered to be a melting pot for artisans, musicians, and craftspeople.

The area is popular for college students, as the housing options are affordable and the area is within walking distance to the local San Antonio College. Uptown Broadway residents can easily find rooms for rent or shared housing that suit the younger set just fine.

Shopping in the area is all about local flavor. Uptown Broadway has a plethora of local shops and antique stores, without a major chain within several miles. The nearest commercial shopping experience to the Uptown Broadway community is the Quarry Market, about 3 miles west.

Just as with shopping, the residents prefer local eateries. Specialty restaurants with Spanish, Thai, Indian, and vegan cuisine dominate the local marketplace. In order to find a commercial restaurant like PF Chang’s or J. Alexander’s, residents will need to visit the nearby Quarry Market or venture into downtown San Antonio.

Nightlife in Uptown Broadway is known as “The Strip.” The strip is a consortium of nightclubs across from San Antonio College that caters primarily to the LGBT community, but is open to all. Heat, the Saint, Pegasus, and Petticoat Junction are just some of the nighttime entertainment options in the area. For those who prefer quieter evenings, wander downtown and enjoy the variety of the Riverwalk.
