San Angelo, TX Apartments for Rent

San Angelo is a beautiful city in the great state of Texas, known as the “Home of Historic Concho Avenue.” With a total area of 28.2 square miles, San Angelo has 2.3 square miles of water and is home to a population of more than 97,000. San Angelo has as great deal of historic charm, but at the same time it is a modern city with great amenities for its residents to enjoy.

With the construction of Fort Concho in 1867, the creation of a village by the name of Santa Angela was founded on the outside of the fort. In 1883 the name was changed to San Angelo, and the town would be not only a trade center, but a center for adult entertainment, with brothels and gambling houses. During the 1880s the town grew at a rapid rate due to new railroads in the area, making it a regional transportation hub. In the early 1900s, the country experienced a tuberculosis outbreak with many patients moving to San Angelo for treatment. San Angelo College, now Angelo State University, was founded in 1928, making it one of the first in the region. In 1940, Goodfellow Air Force Base was founded in the city.
