Less than two miles directly north of downtown, Midland, Texas, is the Windwood Park neighborhood. This community is bounded by North Main Street on the west, East Golf Course Road on the south, and Edwards Street on the east. The community’s northern boundary extends past Elm Avenue, but falls short of East Scharbauer Drive. Cottonwood Avenue and Cedar Avenue traverse the neighborhood from west to east. Part of Midland County, this community is in the 79705 zip code area. Neighboring communities include Arnett Acres, Morningside, Cowden, and Progress Park.
A good portion of the Windwood Park neighborhood is commercial and industrial, but roughly two dozen single-family homes are scattered throughout the southern portion of the community.
For outdoor recreation, residents of Windwood Park are within walking distance or a short drive of Sidwell Park, Ratlift Park, Tolbert Park, and Sparks Park. These small neighborhood parks collectively offer walking/jogging trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, and green space for picnics and activities. However, the more significant outdoor attraction in the area is Hogan Park, situated less than one mile northeast of the community. One of the largest parks in the city, Hogan offers multiple athletic fields, 36 holes of public golfing, and one of the city’s only off-leash dog parks.
In addition to the golfing options at Hogan Park, residents of Windwood Park are also within a few minutes of Ranchland Hills Country Club and the Midland Country Club.
For shopping and entertainment, residents of Windwood Park head a few miles north to State Highway 250, which hosts a variety of popular retailers and restaurants. The Midland Park Mall can also be found along Highway 250. One of the largest indoor shopping centers in the city, Midland Park offers more than 90 specialty stores and dining options, anchored by five major department stores.
