Williams Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Williams is pedestrian friendly, sophisticated, and has a rather artistic bent. It is mostly residential with the majority of homes being of the single-family variety. Some of the homes date back to before 1939 but the majority were built between 1940 and 1994. Newer construction projects after those dates have increased the number of apartments in the area, mostly in the high-rise category. There are also several mobile homes and duplexes.
Two schools serve the neighborhood, Bowie Elementary on Elk Avenue and the San Jacinto Junior High on 1400 North N Street. The closest churches are Hope Lutheran on West Scharbauer Drive and Bellview Baptist Church on East Golf Coast Road, less than a mile away. The Templo Bautista La Hermosa offers services in the Spanish language as well as English, and is less than a mile south on West Michigan Avenue.
Following West Golf Course Road to North A Street and then heading north will take you to the Midland International Airpark and its adjacent business park. To the west of the airport is Midland College. Across from these two landmarks is the Midland Community Theatre that offers regular performances of plays and musicals as well as classes in the theatre arts. Along this West Wadley Avenue corridor are restaurants such as Michael’s Charcoal Grill and the Garlic Press.
Closer to home the Silk Garden is a small eatery on West Golf Course Road. On the southeastern corner of the Williams neighborhood are Moore Park and Wadley Barron Park, both running along North A Street. Hill Park, on West Cuthbert Avenue, is just outside the southern edge of the district.
