The conveniently located neighborhood of Western Mesa is situated roughly three miles northwest of downtown Midland, Texas. This community is bounded by North H Street on the east. It extends past Ventura Avenue on the north, North L Street on the west, and Neely Avenue on the south. It is part of Midland County, and is in the 79705 zip code.

Western Mesa is traversed by Ventura Avenue, West Pine Avenue, and West Pecan Avenue, and is almost entirely residential, consisting of roughly 110 single-family homes on partially shaded lots.

Immediately north of this community are several recreation spots. The city’s racket club has an outdoor swimming pool and 11 tennis courts. Just outside of neighborhood bounds to the northeast are Windlands Park and adjacent Tumbleweed Park. Collectively, these two parks create one of the largest outdoor attractions in the city. They offer walking/jogging trails, playing fields, and playground equipment, among other amenities.

State Highway 250 runs west to east approximately one mile north of the neighborhood, with its variety of attractions. In addition to popular restaurants and retailers, this highway offers the city’s largest indoor shopping center, Midland Park Mall. It is also home to Midland Airpark and Hogan Park. The latter is the largest park in the city, offering 36 holes of public golf, multiple athletic fields, and an off-leash dog park. Hogan Park also features Christensen Stadium, former home of the Midland Rockhounds pro baseball team. Although the team has moved to a new stadium across town (First American Bank Ballpark), Christensen is still utilized by area high schools and Midland College. All of these attractions are within minutes of Western Mesa.
