With more than six parks, a golf course and a community center within a mile of Northwest Acres, this neighborhood is a great spot for nature lovers and athletes. There are several ball fields, tracks, and trails around the neighborhood. It is a wooded area with wide open spaces to enjoy the trees, wildlife, birds, and fresh air.
The privately-owned Opportunity Park is half a mile from Northwest Acres. It has a lot of equipment and a pavilion and is open to the public. Tumbleweed Park is just over half a mile from the community and has ballparks, trails and a picnic area.
The Imperial Shopping Center is located just over a mile away, while the Midland Park Mall is approximately 2 miles away. Both malls have several specialty shops. The Midland Park Mall is anchored by Dillard’s, Sears, and JCPenney.
Dining options are abundant in the area. Within a mile of the community are several restaurants and fast-food establishments, including Pizza Hut and Burger King.
The Midland Community Theater has musicals, comedies, and drama acts. It is seven-tenths of a mile north of the neighborhood and only a five-minute drive via West Wadley Avenue.
Public transportation is available for the community. The Midland-Odessa Urban Transit EZ-Rider buses operate daily Monday through Saturday. There are six bus routes that run throughout the Midland and downtown Midland area.
