The North Midkiff neighborhood is a quiet residential area framed by Mockingbird Lane and Whitman Drive north of the Texas 250 Loop Frontage Road. It is also home to the Colonial Bible Church and the private Midland Classical Academy, both along Whitman Drive. Homes in this area, consisting mostly of high rise apartments and condos, were built between 1970 and the present. There are a small number of duplexes, row houses, and single-family structures. The area east of North Midkiff is largely undeveloped.
The closest public school is Santa Rita Elementary one mile to the south along Whitman Drive. As far as parks are concerned, Santa Rita Park is next to Santa Rita Elementary and Sage Park is to the west off of Bluebird Lane. Residents with pets might be interested in visiting the Hogan’s Run Dog Park. This facility, offering separate areas for large and small dogs, as well as an agility course, is about four miles east via North Midkiff Road and the Texas 250 Loop.
The commercial and business areas nearest the North Midkiff neighborhood are along North Midkiff Road. Albertsons Supermarket, 7-Eleven and an Avis Lube Fast Oil Change Center are all nearby. Several fast food restaurants have locations on North Midkiff Road, including Taco Bell, Burger King and McDonalds.
South of the Texas 250 Loop Frontage Road there is access to Midland Park Mall, which has among its offerings the Midland Mall Dental Center, JC Penney and Dillard’s. Following the Texas 250 Loop east, residents come to Midland College, the Midland International Airpark, a US Post Office, hotels, restaurants and a business park. Midland’s E-Z Rider bus system provides service throughout the area.
