It is situated roughly 2.5 miles directly north of the downtown area, which is easily accessible via nearby North Big Spring Street. This community is bounded by West Wadley Avenue on the north, West Humble Avenue on the south, North Pecos Street on the west and North Big Spring Street on the east. The southern portion of the community is traversed by West Scharbauer Drive. This neighborhood is part of Midland County, in the 79705 ZIP code area.

Largely residential, Kelview Heights consists mostly of single-family homes, but a few commercial offerings can be found throughout, especially along the major bounding roadways. A Baptist church is situated in the southern portion of the community.

It is surrounded on all sides by parks and playgrounds, including Sidwell Park, which is just outside of neighborhood bounds on the west. A more prominent outdoor attraction in the area is Hogan Park, located roughly a half-mile east of Kelview Heights. This large park is well known for its 36-hole public golf course, but it also offers several playing fields and one of the only off-leash dog parks in the city. It is adjacent to the Ranchland Hills Country Club, a semi-private club with a scenic 18-hole course.

Additional amenities near this neighborhood include the Midland Airpark and Midland Park Mall, both situated to the north along Highway 250.
