The borders of the neighborhood are West Wadley Avenue to the north, North Midkiff Road on the east, Neely Avenue on the south and Godfrey Street on the west. This is almost entirely a residential neighborhood but there are a few commercial enterprises, especially on the borders. The neighborhood is located northwest of downtown Midland.

When residents are looking for a neighborhood park, Rusk Park, which is adjacent to the Rusk Elementary School, has a playground for the children to enjoy. It also has two fields for baseball practice and a picnic table. Lee Senior High School’s Eraic Johnson Field is just to the south of the Hyde Park neighborhood. To the north of the neighborhood is the Trinity School of Midland. This is a private school that provides an option to parents who are looking for an alternative to public school education. Originally created by Trinity Episcopal Church, the school is no longer a part of the church; however, religion is still part of the school. The school has early education through grade 12.

Where North Midkiff Road meets West Wadley Street, there is a HEB supermarket. There is also a Starbucks and a Whataburger. Just a short drive north of Hyde Park the Midland Park Mall offers the full shopping experience. There are a wide variety of stores, services and places to eat. Among the stores that are in the mall are JC Penney, Dillard’s, Bath and Body Works, Sear’s, Coach, Abercrombie and Fitch, Footlocker, Gymboree, Kay Jeweler’s, and a whole lot more. Residents can grab a burger at Fuddruckers or a snack at Chick-fil-A , spend an hour or spend the day.
