Bedford Place Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Bedford Place, located northwest of Midland’s downtown core, is one of the more established neighborhoods. Some homes, mostly of the single family variety, date back to the early 20th century. Towards the end of that same century, the trend to build up rather than out started to take hold and more apartments became available. Today Bedford Place is considered artsy, a bit on the eclectic side as far as architecture goes, and pleasurably pedestrian friendly.
Bowie Elementary School located on Elk Avenue and San Jacinto Junior High on North N Street service Bedford Place. Midland High School is on West Illinois Avenue and a seven block walk south. Three parks are within walking distance, North Park Hill on West Cuthbert Avenue to the south, Wadley Barron Park along North A Street on the eastern edge, and Cowden Park, on the gently curving Mayberry Street, four blocks west of Bedford Place. Nearby churches include the First Baptist Church on West Louisiana Avenue and the Templo Bautista La Hermosa on Country Club Drive. The Midland International Airpark and business center are roughly two miles north, as is Midland College. For a night out, take in a show at the Midland Community Theatre across the street from the college.
The Silk Garden on West Golf Course Road is the only restaurant within Belford Place’s boundaries. In the west shops and restaurants follow the Andrews Highway and include an assortment of fast foot eateries such as Wendy’s, KFC, and Burger King. Village Shopping Center, at the corner of the Andrews Highway and West Illinois Avenue offers the Thai House and Green’s Restaurant. A bit farther away along North Big Spring Street are even more eateries with names like the King & I, Whataburger, and Tony’s Old Fashioned Bakery & Burritos.
