Beckland Terrace is in an area east of N Midland Drive, five blocks south of State Highway 158 which changes into the Andrews Highway to the east. Most homes were built between 1970 and 1994, but there are a few older homes, some from the early part of the 20th century that are of historic interest. Small apartment buildings as well as high rise towers in large complexes are also available. The area is mostly residential with most businesses along N Midland Drive and State Highway 158.
Schools in the area include Alamo Junior High on W Storey Avenue, Bonham Elementary on Bonham Street, the Eagle Charter School on Midkiff Road and the Richard Milburn Academy on the Andrews Highway. Five blocks south of Beckland Terrace are the Doug Russell and Alamo Parks at the corner of W Cuthbert Avenue and North Midland Drive. Midland Memorial Hospital West is four blocks north on the Andrews Highway.
Businesses in the area include Blockbuster Video, Walgreens Store Midland, and Midland Step-Step Childcare. At the intersection of State Highway 158 and N Midland Drive there is a lineup of fast foot eateries including Subway, KFC, Arby’s, and Taco Villas. A bit further east on State Highway 158 is Alfredo’s, Furr’s Family Dining, and Quiznos.
Churches in the area include Alamo Heights Baptist, two blocks away on N Midland Drive, Bethel United Methodist four blocks east on Douglas Avenue, and the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship across from Doug Russell Park. E-Z Rider transit has routes serving Beckland Terrace with more frequent service along N Midland Drive and State Highway 158.
