To the northeastern section of the city of Dickinson lies the neighborhood of Briar Glen. It is a neighborhood made up of mostly single-family homes though some multi-family homes do exist in the area. Its location puts League City five miles to the northwest of the neighborhood with the city of Bacliff around four miles to the northeast.
Briar Glen offers the following public schools: Elementary schools are Jake Silbernagel and Hughes Road, while there are three possible destinations for middle school students, including R.D. McAdams Junior High, Dunbar Middle, and Barber Middle Schools. For high school-age students, Dickinson High is the main spot for Briar Glen teens with Dickerson Alternative Learning Center and Clear Path Alternative School as alternatives. College of the Mainland is the nearest post-secondary education facility.
Those enjoying green space will find several parks in the Briar Glen surroundings, including Ray Holbrook and Elva Lobit Parks. For those folks living in Briar Glen that enjoy golf, there are four 18-hole golf courses in the area and one nine-hole course called Green Caye. Beacon Lakes Golf Club is the closest, but Bayou Golf Club, Chaparral Golf Club, and South Shore Golf Club are near enough to make it worth the trip.
Among the attractions that people from the Briar Glen development can see is NASA and the Space Center Houston. In particular, the Visitors Center at Space Center Houston is a fascinating stop for anyone. There is the Dickinson Railroad Museum as well as the West Bay Common School Museum for interesting places to check out. The Butler Longhorn Museum is also close by.
