Oak Hill Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Oak Hill is a prestigious neighborhood in Nashville. It borders Franklin Pike, from Harding Place near Berry Hill to Old Hickory Boulevard next to Brentwood, covering a land area of a little less than eight square miles. With the proximity of this city within a city to Brentwood, Green Hills, and downtown Nashville – just a short commute from the neighborhood – residents have easy access to retail stores and restaurants as well as schools, churches, and recreation.
Classic architecture remains the norm for homes in this forested area, named after a turreted and gabled 19th-century mansion that once sat on a site now occupied by a church. Oak Hill also includes much of the 747 acres that make up the Radnor Lake Natural Area and Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is Tennessee’s first natural area and is a protected ecosystem with hiking trails, boat ramps, fishing areas, and wildlife such as deer, birds, snakes, and coyotes.
As is typical of Davidson County, there are no sidewalks on the Oak Hill roads that wind through the hilly terrain, but traffic is light for residents who like to take a walk or a run. Walking dogs on the main road of Radnor Lake is permitted, but the trails are off-limits to pets, joggers, and bikers.
One of the most recognized sites in Oak Hill is the impressive Governor’s Mansion, which has been the official residence of the Governor of Tennessee since 1949. Some of Music City’s country superstars have also chosen Oak Hill for their homes.
