McMurray Neighborhood

The McMurray neighborhood in Nashville is located south of its namesake, McMurray Drive, and east of Edmondson Pike. Popular landmarks surrounding this Tennessee community include Whitfield Park, Ellington Agricultural Center, Edmondson Pike Branch Library, Hickory Plaza Shopping Center, William A. Pitts Park, and the Fairlane Shopping Center. The McMurray community is encircled by a number of streets, among them Ashley Drive, Meta Drive, Brewer Drive, Tusculum Road, Tobylynn Drive, and Huntington Parkway. The neighborhood has been assigned the ZIP code of 37211.

The McMurray neighborhood is situated an equal distance between Nashville’s Interstates 65 and 24. The Nashville Zoo is located mere minutes to the north of the neighborhood. Fans of outdoor recreation will find endless hours of entertainment and exercise opportunities at nearby Radnor Lake and Radnor Lake Natural Area and Wildlife Refuge, located to the west of the McMurray neighborhood.

Many of the older and more-established condos and townhouses available for rent in the McMurray community were built in the 1980s. However, the neighborhood also has some brand new townhouses. Homes with carriage house floor plans are scheduled for construction in 2011 by Centex Homes. The monthly rental rates for this community are considered affordable in comparison to those of apartments in the greater Nashville and Brentwood areas.

Schools in the Metro Nashville Davidson County School District serve the McMurray community and its youngest residents. Nearby schools include Granbery Elementary School, Tusculum Elementary School, Crieve Hall Elementary School, Norman Binkley Elementary School, and Montessori Academy. Older students attend McMurray Middle School.
