With an interesting variety in home styles and sizes, the Hickory Highlands neighborhood is an area of pretty yards with level to hilly terrain. Sidewalks make the neighborhood quite walkable. It is bound by Moss Road and Mountain View Road in zip code 37013.
Yet for the suburban tranquility, the neighborhood is within walking distance of Hickory Hollow Mall Shopping Center. Here, shoppers find casual fast food restaurants, a movie complex, and major retailers such as Sears and Best Buy. Value retailers such as TJ Maxx, Dollar Tree, and Men’s Warehouse have stores here, as well.
Residents also enjoy shopping at Cool Springs Galleria, west in the Franklin area. The Galleria has four national department stores: Sears, J.C. Penney’s, Dillard’s, and Macy’s.
Hickory Highlands residents enjoy easy access to two major recreational areas in this south Nashville suburb – J. Percy Priest and Long Hunter State Park. The commercial marina at the north end of the lake, Nashville Shores, rents houseboats and provides full marina services. With ten public use areas, boating, hiking, and camping are less than a half-hour’s drive away.
Another great public area – Radnor Lake Natural Area and Wildlife Refuge is a special, protected place. The lake is beautiful, with great trails which pass through some interesting rock formations.
About five miles west of Radnor is Percy Warner Park, with two of Nashville’s best public golf courses. The Harpeth Hills Golf Course is especially challenging.
The neighborhood is halfway between Nashville International Airport and the suburban town of LaVergne, which maintains seven parks, including a community garden, programs for all ages, and seasonal events.
Yet the entertainment and cultural venues of downtown Nashville are within a half-hour’s drive. These include the famed Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, Vanderbilt University, and The Parthenon.
