Nashville, Tennessee has great parks and the residents of Gayland are just south of Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms. Shelby Park has a great golf course and a dog park. They are on the banks of the Cumberland River and are three miles from downtown.
Another addition to the parks is Greenway and Nature Park. Greenways are linear parks and trails that connect neighborhoods to the downtown area, recreation areas, shopping areas, schools and other places of activity. The Gayland residents have close access to twelve miles of trails. The nature park features wetlands, streams, open fields, and a hardwood forest.
The Cumberland River travels over six hundred miles and three hundred miles of it runs through Tennessee. Nashville is located on the Cumberland River and the river adds a very scenic profile to the city. The General Jackson Showboat provides daily cruises down the Cumberland River. The cruises travel through the downtown area and have fantastic entertainment and excellent food. The showboat is three hundred feet long and has a historic paddlewheel. The boat is named after the first steamboat that traveled on the Cumberland River in 1817.
Two Rivers Park Wave Country Water Park is a thrilling place for water lovers with its exciting speed slides and wave pools. The land that the park is on was donated by President Andrew Jackson’s wife’s family in the 1800s.
Music lovers will always have something to look forward to in Nashville. It is the home of the Grand Ole Opry, which is the world’s longest running live radio program. The Opry host live performances from many great musical artist which is always a treat for the Gayland residents.
