The Deer Lake neighborhood is located in Nashville, Tennessee. There are a host of conveniences and amenities nearby, and some parts of the community are within walking distance of restaurants, convenience stores, a park, and a library.

Highway 100, the road that forms the southern border of the Deer Lake neighborhood, is lined with stores and shops. Discount clothing stores, beauty salons, a pharmacy, and fast food restaurants are just south of the community. An eight-theater multiplex and a well-loved, local bakery are in the same area. There are several convenience markets, a grocery store, and a Starbucks just a few hundred yards further south.

Red Caboose Park, the Bellevue Community Center, and the Bellevue Branch of the Nashville Public Library are within walking distance of Deer Lake. The park has a small field and a large fortress-like playground, as well as an asphalt track. The park comes alive in the spring when it hosts various outdoor events, including an Easter egg hunt and outdoor concerts. The community center offers adult and youth recreation programs, and it has a playroom for children and a full-size gymnasium.

There are several schools near the Deer Lake neighborhood. Younger children attend Westmeade Elementary, though some may be zoned to Gower Elementary. Bellevue Middle School is directly across from Red Caboose Park. Nashville Christian School services children from Pre K to grade 12. Ensworth Academy, located a few miles away, is another private school option near Deer Lake. There are several privately run preschool and day care options near the neighborhood, most of them run by area churches. 

The on-ramp to Interstate 40 is within a five-minute drive of the Deek Lake community.
