Boscobel Heights is close to Belmont University and the Belmont Mansion. The Belmont Mansion was first known as Bellemonte, meaning “beautiful mountain” in Italian. The Belmont Mansion was built in 1850 and owned by Adelicia Acklen, one of the wealthiest women in the South. Tours are given in the ornate Italianate villa, which is furnished with Victorian pieces. The mansion was headquarters for Union General T. J. Wood during the Civil War. Although Adelicia Acklen worked with the Union and Confederate forces, she was able to keep her mansion and her lavish lifestyle. Belmont was sold in 1887. It was then the main building for Belmont Junior College before the school became Belmont University.

The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park has 31 fountains representing the Tennessee Rivers, a history wall and an amphitheater. The 19-acre park is a lasting monument to Tennessee’s Capitol building. It has picnic areas and is close to the Nashville Farmers Market.

Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre is Nashville’s first professional theater. Serving dinner with all its performances, the theater has been in business since 1967.
