Highland Park in Columbia is a beautiful family-oriented neighborhood that has grassy medians infused with decorative trees. Single-story brick houses are established and quaint in their lovely corners. Lawns are diverse but well-manicured with trimmed bushes; neat driveways; and narrow, edged sidewalks.

This community is sought after for beauty, working-class comfort, and the close-knit friendliness of neighbors. Natural tall pines stand between dwellings and the deeper cover of hardwoods. This community has shaded spots that provide some seclusion and privacy.

Among places of worship that serve the residents of the Highland Park neighborhood are the Gill Creek Baptist Church, Muhammad Mosque, the Church of Nazarene, and the Tree of Life Congregation Congregation, which is synagogue.
