Taylor, TX Apartments for Rent

Taylor, Texas is located about 36 miles northeast of Austin and roughly 18 miles east of Round Rock. The San Gabriel River and Granger Lake are just north of Taylor. The city of Taylor began as a small railroad town in the 1870s, and Taylor Station was situated on a major cattle trail.

The town developed slowly, and as with most early Western frontier towns, it was often a lawless place with plenty of shoot-outs. Cotton was a major crop for early farmers, and as the town developed, wealthy families built large mansions that are still scattered throughout the city. Moody Museum celebrates the history of the town. The home of Governor Dan Moody was built in 1887, and today is a historic site and museum featuring period furniture and other items. The house is also available for special events.

Once you’ve chosen your Taylor apartment to rent, you’ll have access to the Austin metro area’s shops, restaurants, museums, theaters, and more. You’ll also enjoy Murphy Park, a 120-acre park featuring 10 tennis courts, ball fields, two swimming pools, a lake, a bandstand, picnic areas, and two playgrounds. And be sure to check out Heritage Square, located in Taylor’s historic downtown. This park is used for special events and includes a gazebo and 15 park benches. Taylor also features a 3-mile Hike and Bike Trail that connects Robinson and Bull Branch parks.
