Newtown Square, PA Apartments for Rent

Impossibly green hillsides, a red covered bridge, historic stone buildings, and sleek offices help make Newton Square a unique township. Historic Newton Square was settled in 1681 as part of the oldest township in Delaware County, Chester County. Newton Square was incorporated in 1684.

With such a long history, it is home to some amazing historic sites, including the Square Tavern, which was built in 1742. Today, this brick home, also called the John West House, is a museum. Old St. David’s Church was built in 1715, making it the oldest non-Quaker church in Delaware County. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a poem about this church in 1880 called, “Old St. David’s at Radnor.” The original church is in almost the exact condition as when it was built in 1715. The Paper Mill House, built in 1828, serves as the Paper Mill House Museum and is the headquarters of the Newton Square Historical Society. Newtown Square is also home to Delaware County’s only surviving covered bridge – Bartram’s Covered Bridge, built in 1860.
