The South Walker community of Oklahoma is centrally located at the south end of Oklahoma City, within close proximity to Interstates 40, 44, 240 and 35, as well as State Routes 3, 62, 77 and 270. It is an urban community surrounded by several parks and situated between Will Rogers World Airport and Tinker Air Force Base.
Will Rogers World Airport, named after the legendary Oklahoma native known for his comedy, singing, and cowboy roles, is the main commercial airport in Oklahoma City’s metropolitan area. Tinker Air Force Base is a top military and civilian employer for people living in central Oklahoma. It is one of the United States major Air Force bases, supporting missions and a wide range of services for much of America’s military.
Lake Stanley Draper is located south of Tinker Air Force Base, southeast of the South Walker neighborhood. It is the perfect place to get away from the city. Visitors to the lake can participate in a variety of activities which include fishing, horseback riding, motorcycle and mountain bike trails, hiking opportunities and boating and water sports. The lake is well stocked with multiple types of fish such as bass, crappie, catfish and sunfish. Shorelines provide boat docks and ramps, picnic areas, general store shopping, bait and tackle supplies and restroom facilities. Handicap access is available to those who need it.
South Walker is a well-established community in southern Oklahoma City. Several colleges are located north of this neighborhood in the heart of Oklahoma City. It is a comfortable area, with lots of tall, shade trees and friendly folks, a place where peaceful walks to any number of parks are routine, and where family life is cherished.
