Sky Line Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Sky Line is an older suburban neighborhood along North Portland Avenue around 30th Street in northwest Oklahoma City. The neighborhood has a somewhat rural feel, since many of the homes have open yards rather than fenced-off property. Most of the homes are medium sized, single-story brick houses. In the middle of the neighborhood, Kaiser Elementary School is Sky Line’s link to the Oklahoma City Public School system.
A small channelized creek that winds through the neighborhood leads to Sky Line’s greatest asset. Sky Line borders Will Rogers Park, one of the finest Oklahoma City parks. On the site of an old dairy farm, this historic park was planned in 1912 and is best known for its beautiful gardens. These include a 10-acre arboretum with hundreds of species of trees, a conservatory originally built in 1924, and a formal rose garden featuring eighty varieties of roses. The park also features a senior citizens’ center with daily programming, fitness activities and tennis courts. Further south in the great grassy lawns of the park, there is a swimming complex with pools for people of all ages.
Besides being located adjacent to the recreational paradise of Will Rogers Park, Sky Line is also an easy commute to northwest or downtown Oklahoma City. 39th Expressway, just north of Sky Line, connects to an interchange of I-44 and Lake Hefner Parkway. Using these two highways, Sky Line residents can quickly reach employment and entertainment centers around the metropolitan area. Shopping and office buildings are plentiful on the nearby Northwest Expressway, including the large upscale mall Penn Square.
In downtown Oklahoma City, residents can enjoy NBA basketball and more professional sports, theater, and excellent museums. Other entertainment opportunities are often at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds, which is just miles from Sky Line. The State Fair, horse shows, and trade shows are popular events at the fairgrounds.
