One focal point of the neighborhood is Douglas Park, a well-kept rectangle of rolling lawns, with picnic areas, playing fields, a gazebo, and a playground. The Douglas Edgemere neighborhood is bounded on the north by Northwest Fiftieth Street. On the west, the boundary street is North Western Avenue. The neighborhood holds housing built in the late 1940s and 1950s mostly in ranch or Colonial Revival style. Most of the homes of Douglas Edgemere are single-family dwellings, with a few scattered duplexes and a very few apartments available on or near Western Avenue.

A larger selection of apartment buildings and condominiums is available in the Paseo neighborhood south of Edgemere Heights, or in the Culbertson neighborhood across Centennial Expressway. A group of apartment buildings is also found on North Harvey Avenue north of Fiftieth Street, near Canyon Park.

Douglas Edgemere is located about two miles west of the Adventure District. The award-winning Oklahoma City Zoo, Remington Park Race Track and Casino, the inspiring Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and the Science Museum are among the sights of the district.
