50 Penn West Neighborhood

Oklahoma City’s 50 Penn West neighborhood is a suburban locale in the northern part of the city, situated just Northwest of the historic U.S. 66 Highway (Route 66). A short drive from the Penn Square 10 movie theater and the Penn Square Mall, 50 Penn West is located in the 73112 zip code.

The neighborhood’s major boundaries are North May Avenue, the Northwest Expressway (OK 3A), North Pennsylvania Avenue, and Northwest 50th Street. The 50th Street boundary turns inward at a right angle and then out again in the center, forming a small square that is not part of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is primarily residential, though it is surrounded by commercial activity on its borders. A number of hotels are located along the Northwest Expressway.

The Northwest Expressway border is also a short walk from the Belle Isle Public Library, one of the largest and busiest libraries in Oklahoma City. Further to the East of 50 Penn West at Pennsylvania Avenue and the Northwest Expressway sits the KJYO 103 radio station.

Dining options in the neighborhood include Chester’s Billiards and Grill, Charcoal Oven, Ray’s Café, and Popeyes Chicken. Hotels along the Northwest Expressway include the Hilton Garden Inn and the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites. 50 Penn West lies approximately one and one half miles from Deaconess Hospital, and several parks lie within three miles or less, including Stars and Stripes Park on Lake Hefner.
