Founded by Abraham Pickering in 1815, Pickerington is the Violet Capital of Ohio. For many years, this city was an agricultural and dairy community. Pickerington opened its first school in 1812, called Heritage High School.
Sycamore Park, Victory Park, Colony Park, Simsbury Park, and Willow Pond are just a few of the parks that make up the more than 150 acres of parkland in Pickerington.
The Violet Festival, an annual celebration of the history of Pickerington, attracts over 250,000 people during its four days. The festival includes live entertainment, carnival rides, games, a parade, a car and motorcycle show, and more.
