Liberty University is a private Evangelical Christian university founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell. LU is the largest Christian university in the world and has a 96 percent acceptance rate. Students are required to attend convocation three times a week.
For students who wish to remain on campus when they have free time, LU offers the LaHaye Student Center, which contains basketball courts, exercise facilities, a lounge, and a cafe. Other recreational activities include a 60-mile mountain bike trail, paintball fields, and a synthetic ski slope. Students can also cheer on the Flames football team, who play in the NCAA Division I.
Lynchburg, Virginia is a picturesque city located in central Virginia. It is home to the Lynchburg Museum, the historic Appomattox Courthouse, and Poplar Forest. The historic Poplar Forest was Thomas Jefferson’s plantation home that he built in 1806. It is a National Historic Landmark.
