University of Central Oklahoma - Edmond, OK

Located just north of Oklahoma City, Edmond is a picture-perfect suburban community in the heart of Oklahoma. It features beautiful parks, public art, wide sidewalks, and tree-lined streets. The downtown area features shops, cafes, restaurants, and other businesses in a historical setting. Edmond is also home to the University of Central Oklahoma, the third largest university in the state. For those looking for apartments near UCO, the surrounding town of Edmond is ideal.

UCO was founded in 1890 and is one of the oldest universities in the Southwest. The first building on campus was Old North Tower, which was built in 1892. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The university is a leader in “green” and sustainable practices and is a “Green Power Partner” with the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Notable programs include the Physics Department, recognized as one of the best in the country. The School of Music Jazz Division is the largest in the state, and the Nursing program is the second-largest in the state. UCO offers a total of 116 undergraduate programs and 55 graduate programs.

The Central Oklahoma Bronchos participate in NCAA Division II. The football team has an impressive record, complete with two national championships. The football team plays at Wantland Stadium. The basketball team competes at Hamilton Field House, and the baseball team competes at Broncho Field. The school colors are bronze and blue.
