Small classes and a beautiful campus make Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts a fantastic private, liberal arts college. Wheaton offers over 40 majors and 60 minors. It was founded in 1834 as a female seminary, becoming a women’s college in 1912. It didn’t begin admitting men until 1988, making one of the oldest colleges for women in the US, staying women-only for over 150 years.

Students appreciate Wheaton’s 11:1 student-to-teacher ratio and charming New England campus, but what makes Wheaton stand out is its academic reputation – it is ranked consistently as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation. Noted alumni include Newbery Honor-winning author Jean Fritz, journalist Lesley Stahl, former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, and actress Catherine Keener.

Norton is a picturesque town located about halfway between Boston and Providence. It was settled in 1669 as North Taunton and was later shortened to Norton. Historic sites include the Pitt Clarke House, built in 1797, and the Norton Center Historic District, which includes the Town Common. Although small and friendly, Norton is near the best Massachusetts has to offer – it is a short trip to Boston, Providence, New York City, and the stunning beaches of Cape Cod.

To find your apartment near Wheaton University, look in Norton along East Main Street and Mansfield Avenue. Other nearby towns and communities include Mansfield, Attleboro, and Taunton.
