Murray State University - Murray, KY

Murray State University was established in 1922 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This four-year, public university is located in Murray, a beautiful Kentucky city famous for its festivals and events, such as Freedom Fest, the West Kentucky Highland Games and Festival, the RC Aircraft Fly-in, and the Lumberjack Challenge.

While the college of business is Murray State’s largest college, the university offers eight colleges with 64 bachelor and 42 master and specialist degrees. The Murray State Racers basketball program is among ESPN’s top 30 programs. The men’s basketball team has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 15 times as of 2012.

The city of Murray is ideal for apartments in the Murray State University area. The college is located between North 16th Street and North 12th Street, just north of Main Street. Once you found your off-campus apartment, you’ll enjoy Murray’s two large parks. Murray’s Central Park features a swimming complex with three pools, 15 soccer fields, 15 playgrounds, nine ball fields, a three-mile walking trail, a disc golf course, seven basketball courts, 10 picnic pavilions, and an amphitheater. Playhouse in the Park, one of Kentucky’s oldest community theaters, is located in a 1907 train depot located in the park.
