Westbrook Neighborhood

The Westbrook neighborhood of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is sandwiched between Interstate 40 Business Loop and I-40. Neighborhood streets include Healy Drive, Silas Creek Parkway, and Westbrook Drive. The neighborhood is characterized by small pleasant homes with large lots and long driveways, lush with mature trees and flowering shrubs, with empty fields buffering most of the freeways. Many of the neighborhood streets have sidewalks on one side. Westbrook is in the 27103 zip code area.

Neighborhood landmarks include Hanes Mall Shopping Center, Forsyth Medical Center, and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Several universities are close by. The University of North Carolina School of Arts and Forsyth Technical Community College are a few minutes to the east, while Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University are a few miles more to the north and northeast, respectively.

Market Place Shopping Center, Cooks Shopping Center, Thruway Shopping Center, Cloverdale Plaza, and Parkway Plaza are just a short distance away on I-40.

Several neighborhood city parks are near the Westbrook area. The largest and most popular are Washington Park and Miller Park. Both parks offer hiking, biking and walking trails, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Washington Park also has a very popular dog park and connects to the city’s greenway system. Miller Park features a wide variety of leagues and classes in its community center. The center offers community education classes, including Zumba and cheerleading. Many clubs meet in the center as well, including bridge groups, knitting clubs and senior table tennis leagues.
