Historic Yates Mill Park (at the intersection of Lake Wheeler Road and Yates Mill Pond Road) has beautiful hiking trails and is the site of an old grist mill. Since both sites have plenty of picnic spots, the State Farmers Market, also on Lake Wheeler Road provides the best in fresh locally grown produce. Golfers will love the Raleigh Golf Association course, located on Tryon Road. Just a little farther, very popular Lake Johnson offers even more paved and unpaved trails, camping and recreational activities.
