Lake Johnson Nature Park is a recreational fixture and major local attraction only minutes to the northwest of the Parkland/Hidden Creek community. Other popular local recreation spots include Silver Lake, Dover Pond A, and Dix Hill Conference Center Pond.
The Avent Ferry Shopping Center, Trailwood neighborhood, and Lake Raleigh can all be found to the northeast. Most of the single-family detached homes and apartment buildings in the Parkland/Hidden Creek neighborhood were built in the 1980s and 1990s. There are many apartment rental opportunities in the community, largely due to its close proximity to a college campus.
