Olde Raleigh is a neighborhood in northwestern part of the city of Raleigh. It is located between Daraleigh Road and Edwards Mill Road and begins where the two street meet.
There are several housing options in the Olde Raleigh neighborhood. One is a very exclusive gated community of 128 homes with good-sized yards and plenty of trees. The community was planned in 1990, and the homes were built over the ensuing years. The design of the residences, with traditional columns and lovely front porches, reflects the location of Raleigh in the South.
Three lakes were included as part of the neighborhood design, along with common green areas for residents to enjoy. Each common area is beautifully landscaped, featuring benches for sitting and enjoying the water features in the lake. One of the lakes has a pretty gazebo.
The houses in Olde Raleigh average more than 4,000 square feet each and sell for more than $600,000. There is a recreation facility in the northern area of the neighborhood. This includes a clubhouse with indoor and outdoor pools for residents to use, as well as tennis courts. Although there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood, the streets are wide and the area is quiiet, so residents are able to take walks.
Between Olde Raleigh Village and Olde Raleigh is Independence Village, which is an assisted living apartment community for retired persons. This is independent senior living, where the elderly can purchase meal plans and are furnished with reminders such as when to take medications. There are planned activities as well.
Olde Raleigh Village offers a variety of shopping and dining options. The shops include everything from a grocery store and shoe repair to Italian food and smoothies.
