The Raleigh, North Carolina neighborhood of Oak Haven lies minutes east of Interstate 440, the Cliff Benson Beltline. Its boundaries include New Bern Road to the south, Trawick Road to the west, Skycrest Drive to the north, and North New Hope Road to the east.
Oak Haven is conveniently located between two major Raleigh hospitals, WakeMed Hospital Raleigh Campus, and Duke Raleigh Hospital. The Duke Raleigh Hospital has almost 200 beds and multiple specialty departments. It features a cancer care center that is large, as well as a cardiovascular center ranked in the top ten by U.S. News and World Report.
The Shops at Midway Plantation are only five miles from Oak Haven and are accessible via Raleigh’s public transportation system. Other nearby shopping includes the shops of Capital Square off Capital Boulevard, and Edgewater off New Bern Road.
Raleigh’s 150 city parks include Marsh Creek Park, Lions Park, and Anderson Point Park, each within short driving distance of Oak Haven. Marsh Creek Park has the city’s only free skate park. Lions Park off Dennis Avenue has a large playground for children, outdoor basketball, lighted baseball fields and a BMX track. Anderson Point Park has four miles of trails as well as open fields, a playground, amphitheater and picnic shelters.
The Raleigh Country Club is less than five miles south of Oak Haven. Founded in 1948, its golf course was designed by Donald Ross. This historic golf course hosted its first tournament in 1949 with golf’s legendary Sam Snead competing. A young Arnold Palmer frequented the Raleigh Country Club, as well. The club has the area’s largest teaching/practice facilities, including six target greens, three chipping greens, a Himalayan green and a stroke green. The Raleigh Country Club also features an aquatic center.
