The museum is also a popular destination for area schools taking children on field trips. The museum provides a great educational program that makes the world of art a little more fun and exciting for its younger visitors.

South of the Museum of Art is the sports hub of the area. This is where Carter Finley Stadium and the RBC Center are located and feature the college teams for North Carolina State University and the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team.
