Lake Wheeler and Lake Johnson, with its adjoining Lake Johnson Nature Park, are not that much farther away. Highway 64 and Interstates 40 and 440 conveniently converge to the north of the neighborhood, making commuting to many recreational, entertainment, retail, commercial, and residential destinations throughout Raleigh and the Triangle easy for Heritage Oak residents.
Penny Road Elementary School, Dillard Drive Middle School, and Middle Creek High School are the local public schools serving the residents of this neighborhood and their families.
